Friday 14th April 2017

Simon Moores has been back fishing on Friday 14th April and sent us this email about his day:

Great day on Friday and it was good to see some bigger fish coming out.
Had 26 altogether with the largest being 20lb 5ounces, which I caught in the morning and then ended up catching the same one again late afternoon. Also managed to land a 15lb dark common as well

It’s been a very busy month what with the Easter Holidays and the sunshine. It was nice to see the car park so full and we think it was the busiest it’s been in ten years we’ve lived here. Onwards and upwards.

Happy Friday everyone.

Dan Styles and Steve Smith had a “great day” fishing this week. They caught well over 50 carp between them with small pellets and luncheon meat. Good job! Here are photos sent in by Dan.

Tuesday 7th March 2017

Hello fellow fishing fanatics,

March is here already and Spring is on its way. Happy days.

We had a lively bunch on a Stag Do this weekend just past and they endured some wet and windy weather. As a result the mud is quite substantial in one area and is currently cordonned on off to allow it to dry up.

Just a reminder to place recycling in the blue box provided and rubbish in the bins to maintain the lake’s cleanliness.

The temperatures should be rising this week so that might encourage some more of you out this weekend. Hope to see you soon!

P.S. Remember to send any photos of yourselves with catches to info@shirkoak.co.uk and we’ll happily post them here on the website!

Monday 20th February 2017

We started Half Term week with snow on Saturday but it had cleared by the next day. The temperature slowly started to rise during the week with mild warmth at the weekend and a large number of fish being caught. Spring must be on its way!

Here are two of our regulars enjoying fishing on a chilly Sunday. Although the lake has been thawed out for a few days they managed to catch a fair number of fish, the largest being 6/7 pounds. Not a great result but still a good day. They said they travel round to many places every weekend and always find that they catch the most fish here at Shirkoak Fisheries.

Happy 2017!

Happy New Year to you all!

I hope 2017 has been treating you well so far.

Apologies for the lack of communication, it will be a New Year’s Resolution to update the website much more frequently!

The lake is currently frozen over due to the bitterly cold weather. Here are a couple of photos taken this morning. It is supposed to be getting milder from now on so we will hopefully be open this weekend.

Stay safe and warm, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
